Tech Deck ‘Design and Build’ competition

Ever thought your local park was missing something? Or thought about what you would change if you could? Maybe you've even thought about sessioning that same park with some of the UK's top skaters? Well Tech Deck are giving you the chance to fulfill all of your wishes with relative ease and a pretty minimal amount of work on your part.
Tech Deck are giving you the opportunity to win a new obstacle for your local skatepark, along with a private session for you and your mates with members of the Vans UK team.
The Tech Deck 'Design and Build' competition simply requires you to submit a design for a new obstacle or possible change to your existing park - these can be simple sketches, models or even mashed potato sculptures if you see fit - they will be judged on creative merit, practicality and skateability - so there's no point in drawing a 30 metre high Mega Jump or something equally as daft!
The top ten designs will then go onto the next stage: You will then need to build a model of your obstacle with the provided Tech Deck goodies, and film a little video section of you and your mates sessioning it. Points will be awarded on the basis of the quality of your obstacle, impressiveness of the tricks performed and any general tomfoolery involved.
Judges are set to include: Marc Churchill, Ben Powell and Nic Powley.
Please send your initial images and any queries via e-mail too:

nic@backroomoperations.com
Make sure to Include with your entry - Your name and age, the name and location of your chosen park, your contact telephone number and the image of your design. The closing date for the first stage is 30/01/2010, with the finalists notified shortly after.
Get your creative thinking cap on now and start submitting your ideas!

Blank Canvas Art Exhibition

The Blank Canvas Street Art Festival has now finished and after a long, hard couple of weeks everything went off well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, whether it be through the workshops, looking at the exhibition or generally just coming along and having a good skate.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making the event happen and those people involved in the SEAS festival as well for using us as a venue for the performance of 'Monday In The Sun'.
A big thank you to Tim and the street artists from Bristol for coming and painting the park, to Stu and Lilli from Lovenskate for organising the screen printing workshop, to all the volunteers who put endless hours into cleaning and painting the place before the event and during it and a big thank you to everyone who came in support of the park over the week.
We hope to put similar things on in the near future. But for now here are some pictures from the week. Enjoy.

Skeg Summer Series' 09 Results.

It took months of planning, 24hours of total skateboard carnage, 20 games of skate and an awful lot of hammers but finally the results are in. We'll start with the game of skate results. Placing first in the under 16's competition is Ryan Hurt. And first in the over 16's event was Will Golding. Will completely smashed every body and deserved mega props.

Now for the overall results. The event was not just judged on skill but also attitude, hype, improvement and many other aspects. So without further ado.

3rd place:Ryan Hurt
2nd place:Josh (strawberry head) Harris
1st place:NORTON COOKE

Footage and photos should be up shortly.

A final thankyou to all the organisers and everyone for turning up and making this event so good!!
